My name is Areej from 6K and I am a prefect. As I am a prefect I’m also a school councilor. My job is to make sure the school toilets are filled with soap and other necessary facilities such as paper towels and also monitor the corridors.

My job as a school councilor is to listen to the children’s suggestions to improve the school. We make sure that everyone is happy in school and has a chance to have their say in school matters. We also take care of children’s needs by addressing issues such as bullying.

If you ever have a problem, need some advice or want to see some changes in school then I’m the person to come to!

In literacy we have been looking at an interesting story called Boy Overboard, we also have been looking deep inside the story to find clues in the text to answer some of our class questions. So far this story has been a great pleasure to read and I’m so excited to carry on reading and also find out what is going to happen next. From what I have read I think Jamals family will move to a new environment but the governors will find out what they have done and the whole family may end up in trouble.

In topic we are learning about eyes. We are seeing if our eyes deceive us. 6K have been looking at different kinds of illusions and if its our eyes that deceive us or our brains. We have also been looking at how the eyes work and we have made presentations using PowerPoint. I think this is a great topic and it is really interesting.

Assessment Week!

A big WELL DONE to all of year 6.

This week year 6 have had assessments in reading and mathematics, they have all worked extremely hard which has been reflected in the good levels they have all achieved.

The SATs are very frightening. I felt anxious when I was thinking of my SATs, I thought I might not make it to high school but I’m sure I’ll be one year behind. I was scared for one month all because of SATs but suddenly Miss Offord called the year 6 into the hall to tell us there will be no more SATs. I was shocked and suddenly happy but I mostly felt relieved.

In literacy we have been reading the novel Boy Overbaord. We have been story mapping chapters from the book to highlight key events and characters. We have also been looking for exciting vocabulary within the text to use in our own writing.
